Nigeria's Ambassador Akande Begins Diplomatic Mission in Sweden

Nigeria is focusing on strengthening its economic, trade, investment, and innovation partnerships with Sweden and other Nordic countries. This initiative began as Ambassador Lola Akande presented her letter of credence to King Carl XVI Gustaf in a ceremony held in Stockholm.

This event officially marks the commencement of Akande’s diplomatic tenure in Sweden, where she is also concurrently accredited to Denmark, Finland, and Norway. During a Vin d’Honneur at the Ambassador’s Residence in Stockholm following the ceremony, Akande expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to represent Nigeria abroad.

She emphasized the need for purposeful partnerships to address the challenges and opportunities facing both nations. Akande affirmed Nigeria's readiness to collaborate closely with the Government of Sweden, fellow African missions, and Nordic partners to promote shared priorities in trade, investment, innovation, sustainable development, peace, and security.

She also acknowledged the support from Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the African diplomatic group, and the Nigerian community in Sweden.
