Nigeria to Send 400 Experts to Jamaica for Employment

Nigeria will deploy 400 technical experts to Jamaica, beginning in the first quarter of 2027, as part of an initiative to create legitimate international employment opportunities for Nigerian youths and mitigate the risks of irregular migration. This announcement was made by Yakub, the Director-General of the National Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), during a briefing in Abuja.
The deployment follows a send-off ceremony for 21 volunteers assigned to Uganda for two-year technical service under the NTAC program. Yakub emphasized that the initiative would help reduce unemployment and increase foreign remittances to Nigeria.
He stated that the program, established in 1987 under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has deployed over 12,000 Nigerian experts to more than 40 countries. Yakub urged the volunteers to represent Nigeria with professionalism and discipline, highlighting the importance of their conduct in shaping perceptions of the country abroad.
He also mentioned the government's initiative for dignified international deployment of skilled workers under negotiated employment arrangements.
