Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Team Aims for Glory in Glasgow

Mr. Seyi Johnson, president of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation, expressed confidence that the Nigerian wheelchair basketball team will achieve a podium finish at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. This marks the team's first qualification for the Commonwealth Games.

In an exclusive interview with Ikenna Okonkwo, Johnson emphasized the importance of hard work and preparation, stating that success comes from meeting opportunities with readiness. He noted the federation's efforts to promote the sport, including the establishment of a national league and the inclusion of wheelchair basketball in national competitions.

The women's team has already qualified, while the men's team faces tough competition from South Africa, a dominant force in African wheelchair basketball. Johnson highlighted the support from the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the need for continuous encouragement for all sports.

The team is set to undergo training tours in Europe ahead of the games, aiming to perform well and make a strong statement.
