Nigeria Wins Medals at 2026 Pan African Maths Olympiad

Nigeria achieved significant success at the 2026 Pan African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO) held in Yamossoukro, Cote D’Ivoire, winning five silver medals and one bronze. The silver medalists included Aghaduno Chimfimnanya, who won two silver medals (one in PAMO and another in PAMO-G), and Oyerinde Damaris, who also secured two silver medals (one in PAMO and another in PAMO-G).

Lius Liu won one silver in PAMO, while Enwere Kingsley Ikenna clinched one bronze in PAMO. The students represented Nigeria through a fair selection process conducted by the National Mathematical Centre via the Nigerian National Mathematical Sciences Olympiad.

The PAMO is Africa's premier Mathematics Championship for secondary school students, organized by the African Mathematics Union. Prof Benjamin Oyelami, Acting Director/Chief Executive of the National Mathematical Centre and Team Leader of the Nigerian contingent, commended the federal government's funding that facilitated the students' preparation and expressed the Centre's commitment to enhancing Mathematics education in Nigeria.
