Nigerian Army Thwarts ISWAP Attack in Borno State

On July 11, 2026, at approximately 10:20 PM, the Nigerian Army's 19 Brigade, operating under the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, successfully repelled an infiltration attempt by ISWAP terrorists in Cross Kauwa, Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State. The army detected hostile movements and responded with overwhelming firepower, compelling the terrorists to retreat and abandon their mission.

The operation resulted in significant casualties for the terrorists, who also attempted to loot cholera medical supplies during their assault. The Nigerian Army recovered a camcorder containing sensitive footage of terrorist activities and propaganda material.

Preliminary forensic analysis indicated that the operation was coordinated by four senior ISWAP commanders, including foreign operatives.
