Nigerian Army Uncovers Impostor Claiming Military Rank

The Nigerian Army has exposed Alhaji Tijjani Abdul Rauf as an impostor who falsely claimed to be a retired Major General, misleading the public and abusing the prestige of military institutions. The Army's statement, released on Thursday, detailed that Abdul Rauf never attained the rank of Major General nor held any official position within the Nigerian Army.

Col. Appolonia Anel, the Army's Director of Public Relations, confirmed that the suspect allegedly exploited his false credentials to intimidate unsuspecting civilians and influence court proceedings. Media reports indicate that Abdul Rauf had previously filed a lawsuit against the Lagos State government, seeking N8 billion in damages.

The Army condemned his actions as a grave offense that undermines public trust and tarnishes the honor of genuine military service. They reiterated their commitment to protecting the integrity of their ranks and urged the public to verify military claims through appropriate channels.
