Nigerian Army Launches New Housing Units at Marda Barracks

The Nigerian Army unveiled modern housing units for soldiers at Marda Barracks, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the welfare of its personnel. The inauguration was led by Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who emphasized the Army's ongoing commitment to improving living standards for troops.

The newly constructed housing units are designed for 30 soldiers of the corporal rank and below. Major General Adeyinka Adereti, Command Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, described the project as a practical demonstration of the Army's philosophy of operational readiness and welfare.

The construction was completed by Messagewis Limit Firm, with Dr. Henri Nzekwu, the CEO, expressing pride in the company's role.

The project began construction in 2025 and was completed by February 2026. The ceremony was attended by senior officers, including Major General G.

Ibrahim and Major General Babalola, highlighting the broader effort of the Nigerian Army to strengthen personnel welfare through collaboration with private sector partners.
