Nigerian Government Reveals Reasons for Delay in Kano-Katsina Dual Carriageway Project

The Nigerian government has disclosed the reasons behind the delay in the Kano-Katsina dual carriageway project. Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu, Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, revealed that unresolved compensation claims related to farmland and residential properties along the 157-kilometer road project have hindered progress.

Despite challenges, the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) have expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done by contractors, currently at 27% completion. The government aims to resolve compensation issues promptly to allow for the timely completion of the crucial road, which is expected to boost economic activities in the region.

The project has seen slow progress in the past but is now receiving increased funding and attention from the current administration under Muham Idris.
