First Lady's Food Bank Initiative Launched in Calabar

Dr. Betta Edu, the Director of Women Mobilisation for the Presidential Campaign Council, praised the South-South Food Bank initiative during its launch in Calabar, Cross River State. She stated that the food bank would provide direct access to fresh food for Nigeria's most vulnerable citizens and enhance local economies by sourcing crops from local farmers and livestock producers.

Edu also acknowledged the efforts of Cross River State Governor Senator Bassey Otu and his wife, Eyoanwan, for their hospitality towards the First Lady and her team. Additionally, during the commissioning of a new ICT Centre at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Edu described the facility as a strategic investment in digital skills and artificial intelligence, particularly for young women in STEM.

She commended the Nigerian Government, TETFund, and the First Lady for their roles in this initiative, emphasizing the administration's commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians and preparing youth for future opportunities.
