Gidado Shuaib Named UN Youth Representative by IPRA

Gidado Shuaib, a Nigerian media entrepreneur, has been appointed as a United Nations Youth Representative by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA). This appointment was confirmed by IPRA Secretary-General Philip Sheppard and will see Shuaib working with the UN Bureau in New York, represented by Jim McQueeny and Matt Cossel, to strengthen IPRA’s engagement with the United Nations on youth-focused initiatives and global development discussions.

This announcement coincides with the upcoming Golden World Awards (GWA) scheduled for September 25, 2026, in Athens, Greece, where Nigerian PR agencies, including Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) and LSF PR, have secured shortlist positions. Shuaib currently serves as a special assistant to the director-general of Voice of Nigeria (VON) and is also a Digital Communications Specialist at Baze University.

He is the publisher and CEO of Youths Digest and the founder of the Campus Journalism Awards. His professional background includes experience with major newsrooms such as the BBC and Premium Times, and he is a member of several professional organizations including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and IPRA.
