NILDS and UNIBEN Launch New PhD Programmes in Abuja

The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) and the University of Benin (UNIBEN) have officially launched new PhD programmes in Law, Governance, and related fields, marking a significant expansion of their longstanding partnership. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was renewed on a Thursday in Abuja, with Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, the Director General of NILDS, describing the renewal as a major milestone in their relationship.

He emphasized the importance of the agreement in enhancing research capacity and producing skilled professionals who can contribute to public service and governance. The newly introduced PhD programmes include a PhD in Law, a PhD in Policy and Legislative Studies, and a PhD in Social Science and Political Governance.

Professor Edoba Omoregi, Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN, expressed commitment to deepening collaboration, highlighting the positive outcomes of their partnership. The ceremony was attended by key figures, including Professor Shuaibu Umaru, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of UNIBEN Governing Council.
