Anosike Elected President of ACMAD Board for Four Years

Professor Charles Anosike, the director general and chief executive officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), was elected president of the Board of Governors of the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD) on September 10, 2026. This election occurred during the 24th Ordinary Session of the ACMAD Board of Governors in Cotonou, Benin Republic, alongside the 22nd African Climate Outlook Forum (ACCOF22).

Anosike's four-year term will focus on deepening Nigeria's engagement in continental initiatives that strengthen climate resilience and support sustainable African economies through reliable meteorological information. His role includes providing strategic leadership to enhance institutional governance and partnerships, as well as improving the delivery of weather and climate information across Africa.
