Nigeria and China Forge New Tourism Cooperation

Nigeria's tourism sector is entering a new phase of cooperation with China following a meeting in Beijing between Ola Awakan, the Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), and Dai Bin, the President of the China Tourism Academy. The discussions aimed to strengthen Nigeria-China tourism relations, particularly in developing the Chinese tourism market for Nigeria.

Awakan proposed a structured China-Nigeria Tourism Market Development Programme to better understand Chinese outbound tourism patterns and create tailored tourism products. He emphasized the need for enhanced technical cooperation and capacity-building for the NTDA and state tourism agencies.

Dai Bin praised Nigeria's cultural and historical tourism resources and expressed the Academy's commitment to a strategic partnership with the NTDA. He highlighted the importance of improving Nigeria's image among Chinese travelers and proposed the establishment of a Nigerian International Tourism Promotion Centre in China to promote Nigerian destinations and deepen market understanding.
