NISDAN Launched to Enhance Government Accountability

Michael Obinna Nwabufo, also known as Mike Premium, launched the Nationwide Service Delivery Accountability Network (NISDAN) at a National Youth Day Conference in Lagos organized by the Practitioners of Skit-Makers and Influencers Guild of Nigeria (PCCSIGN). NISDAN is a citizen-led watchdog focused on tracking government spending of public funds in anticipation of the 2027 elections.

Nwabufo, the National President of NISDAN, highlighted the disparity between the substantial allocations received by state and local governments and the inadequate services provided to citizens. He noted that governors collect hundreds of billions from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) annually, with some receiving over ₦600 billion over four years, yet basic infrastructure remains lacking.

NISDAN will conduct unannounced inspections of government projects and report findings through various media. If evidence of misappropriation is found, NISDAN will file petitions with the EFCC, ICPC, and other relevant agencies.

Nwabufo emphasized the importance of civic engagement beyond elections and recognized effective governance, citing the Niger Delta Development Commission as a positive example.
