Nnamdi Kanu Dismisses Lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor Officially

Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has officially dismissed his longtime lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor, accusing him of continuing to act as his legal representative despite a prior verbal termination. Kanu's decision was communicated in a letter dated July 22, 2026, which aimed to clarify the end of Ejiofor's engagement.

He stated that Ejiofor had been informed verbally that his services were no longer needed, yet the lawyer allegedly persisted in representing Kanu and IPOB. The letter emphasized that Ejiofor no longer had the authority to act on behalf of Kanu or the group, and any previous mandates were revoked.

Kanu instructed Ejiofor to cease any public statements regarding him or IPOB and warned that continued unauthorized representation would be seen as a violation of his directives. Kanu also reminded Ejiofor of his confidentiality obligations regarding privileged information obtained during their professional relationship.

In response, Ejiofor dismissed Kanu's claims and accused him of threats and false accusations.
