Nnamdi Kanu Dismisses Lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor from IPOB

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has officially terminated his relationship with his longtime lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, through a letter dated July 22, 2026, from the Sokoto Correctional Centre. Kanu directed Ejiofor to stop acting on behalf of him, his family, and the pro-Biafra movement.

He stated that he had previously informed Ejiofor verbally about the termination of his services. The letter serves as formal documentation of this decision, revoking all authority previously granted to Ejiofor.

Kanu emphasized that under the IPOB Code of Conduct, only he has the authority to appoint or remove representatives. He instructed Ejiofor to refrain from issuing statements, granting interviews, or presenting himself as counsel for IPOB.

Kanu also expressed concerns regarding the confidentiality of information obtained during Ejiofor's tenure and warned against unauthorized disclosures. This fallout follows recent explanations from Kanu’s legal team regarding Ejiofor's removal from active involvement in Kanu's defense.
