Ejiofor Responds to Kanu's Termination of Legal Services

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a legal practitioner, has publicly responded after Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), terminated his legal services in a letter dated July 22, 2026, from the Sokoto Correctional Centre. Kanu instructed Ejiofor to cease representing him, his family, and IPOB, warning against unauthorized disclosures of confidential information.

Ejiofor expressed surprise at the sudden concern regarding his silence, which he maintained for years despite facing blackmail, threats, and defamatory allegations aimed at damaging his reputation. He stated that his silence should not be interpreted as weakness and that he has always respected the confidentiality of the lawyer-client relationship.

Ejiofor also referenced documents he believed were hastily prepared or possibly forged, suggesting that the emphasis on legal privilege was a recent development. He concluded by indicating that while he has chosen to remain silent for now, this position may change in the future.
