Ondo Assembly Confirms Impeachment Process for Speaker

The Ondo State House of Assembly has affirmed that there is no reversal on the planned impeachment of Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, pending the outcome of mediation by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hon. Olatunji Ifabiyi, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, stated that the impeachment process is ongoing but paused until the party provides direction. He emphasized that while the executive does not interfere in legislative matters, the APC, which comprises all 26 lawmakers, has a responsibility to mediate and resolve the crisis.

Ifabiyi noted that the Assembly reconvened after a prolonged absence due to public concerns and passed resolutions on key issues, including flooding and developmental challenges in Ondo State. The House has also formed an audit committee to examine its financial and administrative records.

The Assembly adjourned and will reconvene following the party's guidance.
