No Permanent Terrorist Base in South-West Nigeria, Military

The Armed Forces of Nigeria, represented by Major General Michael Onoja, dismissed reports suggesting the existence of a permanent terrorist operational base in the South-West region. This clarification followed attacks in Oyo State, particularly involving the abduction of school children.

The military stated that their intelligence assessments do not support claims of an established insurgent network in the area. They highlighted that recent criminal acts, including multiple abductions in Oriir Local Government Area, do not indicate a permanent terrorist camp.

General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff, expressed condolences to the families of victims and assured that the military is committed to ensuring the safe return of all abducted individuals. Troops are actively pursuing perpetrators and conducting joint operations with local security agencies.

The military cautioned against narratives that could incite public panic and emphasized the importance of community support in ongoing rescue efforts.
