Protesters Demand Investigation into El-Rufai in Abuja

A significant protest occurred in Abuja, organized by the Mega Nation Movement for Good Governance (MNMGG), calling for a thorough investigation into former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. The demonstration, which took place outside the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Jabi, was marked by placards reading "No Sacred Cow, Justice Prevail." Spokesperson Muhammad Abdullahi stated that the matter should not be politicized and insisted on accountability through legal processes.

The protest was prompted by a 2024 report from the Kaduna State House of Assembly that allegedly highlighted irregularities in state contracts and debt profiles. The EFCC, represented by spokesperson Dele Oyewale, assured the crowd that due process would be followed in any investigation.

The protest concluded without violence, although tensions briefly rose. The MNMGG pledged to continue monitoring the case, emphasizing the importance of transparency and adherence to the law in the investigation of El-Rufai.
