NOA and NCFRMI Advocate for IDP Protection in Kebbi

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) urged for the inclusion and protection of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Kebbi State during a media event commemorating World Refugee Day. Alhaji Nasir Karofi, the Director of NOA in Kebbi State, emphasized the global theme highlighting the fundamental rights of every individual to safety and dignity.

He noted that humanitarian assistance, including food, shelter, and healthcare, is essential for the long-term protection of IDPs, who should be viewed as individuals affected by conflict and insecurity rather than mere statistics. Alhaji Ar Mayau Shu Aibu, the North West Zonal Director of NCFRMI, described World Refugee Day as an opportunity to recognize the resilience and courage of millions of displaced people.

The event concluded with a call for stronger community support and media engagement to combat misinformation and stigma against displaced persons.
