NOC to Host Governance Seminar for Sports Leaders in 2026

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), with support from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and its Olympic Solidarity programme, is organizing a two-day Good Governance Seminar for presidents of National Sports Federations. This seminar will take place on September 28 and 29, 2026, at the Starview Palace Hotel in Gwarinpa, Abuja.

The initiative aims to strengthen the leadership and administrative capabilities of federation presidents while promoting internationally recognized governance standards in Nigerian sports. The seminar will address governance challenges, encourage experience exchange, and develop practical solutions for effective sports administration.

Topics will include the sports ecosystem structure, leadership principles, governance standards, and corruption management. The curriculum is designed to provide practical knowledge for daily federation administration and foster discussions on improving accountability and internal structures.

This seminar aligns with the Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance within the Olympic Movement, emphasizing integrity, transparency, and effective control mechanisms essential for the credibility and growth of sports organizations.
