Nollywood Actor Joseph Momodu Joins US Army

Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has officially enlisted in the US Army, completing his basic combat training in April 2026. He relocated to the United States in recent years and announced this significant milestone publicly, stating that he undertook the training partly to honor his late father, Abubakar Sadiq Momodu, who served in the Nigeria Police Force.

Momodu has spent a decade building his career in Nollywood, with credits including appearances in long-running TV dramas and music videos, notably Simi's "Joromi." He has won the Best Body Male award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in both 2018 and 2019. His enlistment places him among a growing number of Nollywood figures who have transitioned from the entertainment industry to military service in the US.

Other notable figures include actress Princess Chinek, who relocated in December 2024, and Grace Chari Bassei, formerly known as Belinda Effah, who joined the US Navy in May 2025.
