NUFA Demands Sheriff’s Removal from APC Campaign Role

The North-East Unity Forum for Asiwaju (NUFA), a group supporting President Bola Tinubu, has called for the removal of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff from his position as the North-East Zonal Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 Presidential Campaign Council. NUFA's Convener, Hon. Yusuf Umar, expressed concerns regarding public perception and the political implications of controversies linked to Sheriff, a former governor of Borno State.

While acknowledging Sheriff’s denials of allegations connecting him to violent non-state actors, NUFA warned that the ongoing controversies could distract from the APC's campaign efforts in the North-East. The group stated that unless Sheriff’s appointment is reversed, they would withdraw their support and suspend their mobilization efforts for Tinubu's re-election.

NUFA emphasized that political mobilization requires leaders who inspire public confidence, especially given the region's challenges. They also highlighted the need for the campaign to focus on critical issues such as security, employment, and infrastructure.
