NUFA Urges Tinubu to Replace Sheriff as APC Coordinator

The North-East Unity Forum for Asiwaju (NUFA) has called on President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to replace Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the North-East Zonal Coordinator of the APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council. In a statement signed by convener Hon. Yusuf Umar, the NUFA expressed concerns that Sheriff’s appointment could negatively impact the party's chances in the region.

The Forum emphasized the need for political leadership in the North-East to be sensitive to public perception and community confidence, given the region's severe security, humanitarian, and economic challenges. While acknowledging Sheriff’s denials of allegations linking him to Boko Haram, the NUFA stressed that public perception of his appointment could harm the APC's prospects.

The Forum pointed out the historical controversies surrounding Sheriff’s leadership in Borno State and stated that campaign appointments should not generate avoidable controversies that distract from critical issues affecting citizens.
