Kidnap Kingpin Jiji Mujugu Killed in Kebbi Operation

Jiji Mujugu, identified as a notorious kidnap kingpin, was killed by the Kebbi State Police Command during a successful operation on June 20, 2026. The operation was initiated following credible information regarding Mujugu's involvement in the abduction of Alh Abu Geza from Geza Village in Bagudo Local Government Area.

During the operation, Mujugu attempted to escape and opened fire on police personnel, who returned fire, resulting in his death on the spot. A local fabric pistol was recovered at the scene.

The Kebbi State Police Command deployed tactical personnel to Tsamiya Town following the attack, which had seen assailants firing sporadically and setting ablaze makeshift checkpoints belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The Commissioner of Police directed the deployment of additional security forces to ensure the safety of residents and to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

The public was urged to remain calm and report any suspicious activities.
