NPA Mourns Former MD Alhaji Bamanga Tukur's Passing

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) expressed deep sorrow over the passing of its former Managing Director, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who died on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the age of 90. Tukur served as General Manager and Chief Executive of the NPA from 1975 to 1982, during which his leadership laid the groundwork for enhanced port efficiency and modernization in Nigeria's maritime and trade facilitation sector.

Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, the current Managing Director of the NPA, referred to Tukur as a “pillar of trade facilitation,” acknowledging the lasting impact of his contributions on the Authority and the maritime industry. Dantsoho, alongside the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, received Tukur's remains and conveyed condolences to his family, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the people of Adamawa State.

Beyond his tenure at the NPA, Tukur was recognized as a prominent businessman and public figure, with contributions to nation-building that extended beyond the maritime sector. The NPA prayed for Tukur’s soul and offered comfort to his family and associates.
