NPF Drives MMA Inclusion in National Sports Festival

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has played a significant role in promoting Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) by facilitating its inclusion in the National Sports Festival (NSF) following the successful 15th BIPOGA games held in Asaba, Delta State, from February 14-21, 2026. CSP Kalu Chijiok Erem, a board member of the Nigeria Mixed Martial Arts Federation (NMMAF), attributed this development to the NPF's efforts to strengthen MMA governance nationwide.

The recognition of MMA as a fully sanctioned sport marks a pivotal moment in its history, as it was previously obscured and lacked institutional support. The NPF's commitment has created momentum for MMA in Nigeria, enhancing its visibility and credibility.

The former Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the initiative as visionary leadership in combat sports development. The NPF aims to transform MMA into a structured sport capable of producing globally competitive athletes.
