NRC Orders Investigation into Assault of UI Lecturer

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has condemned the assault of Dr. Mikail Abdussalam, a lecturer at the University of Ibadan (UI), which occurred at the Obafemi Awolowo Train Station in Moniya, Ibadan. NRC's Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, expressed serious concern regarding the incident, affirming that harassment and intimidation towards passengers and members of the public are unacceptable and not in line with the corporation's operational values and standards.

He ordered an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, ensuring that personnel found to have acted contrary to the corporation's professional public service code of conduct would face appropriate disciplinary measures as per established regulations and laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Dr. Opeifa extended his sincere regrets and apologies to Dr. Abdussalam for the distress caused by the incident and reiterated the NRC's commitment to treating all passengers and visitors at its stations with dignity and respect.
