NRC and NSCDC Prevent Railway Vandalism in Osun State

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) successfully prevented an attempt to vandalize railway track materials at the siding for Dangote Steel Rolling Mills in Osogbo, Osun State. On Friday, August 28, NRC's Principal Track Officer received a report regarding ongoing vandalism and promptly dispatched security personnel to the site.

Upon arrival, the suspected vandals fled, leading to a search that resulted in the recovery of nine oxygen gas cylinders intended for the illegal operation. NRC's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kayode Opeifa, described this intervention as a significant success in protecting railway infrastructure from vandalism.

He commended the security personnel for their vigilance and urged increased surveillance against such acts. Opeifa emphasized the importance of safeguarding railway infrastructure for national safety and economic development, calling on local communities to report suspicious activities and directing security operatives to identify and prosecute those involved in the attempted vandalism.
