NSCDC Destroys 283 Illegal Refineries Under Audi's Leadership

Ahmed Audi, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), reported the destruction of 283 illegal refineries as part of the agency's efforts to combat oil theft and economic sabotage in Nigeria. This initiative, which began in March 2021, has led to the arrest of 4,677 suspects, with 2,039 ongoing prosecutions and 638 convictions over the past five years.

Audi emphasized the importance of the NSCDC's collaboration with sister agencies to provide critical support for internally displaced persons affected by insurgent attacks. He highlighted the agency's commitment to modernizing its operations, including staff training and intelligence gathering, to effectively address domestic threats.

Additionally, Audi noted a significant overhaul in the private guard company sector, with 376 new companies registered and 3,800 licenses renewed, ensuring compliance with national security standards. Audi has been in his role since February 2021, appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
