NSCDC Warns Kano Residents Against Storm Shelter Risks

On Friday, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, initiated a statewide public awareness campaign focused on the safety of telecommunication masts during the rainy season. NSCDC State Commandant Mohammed Agalama cautioned residents against seeking shelter under telecom masts during storms, highlighting the risks posed by heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

He stressed that tampering with telecommunication masts and related infrastructure constitutes economic sabotage and endangers public safety. Agalama urged the public to report any damaged or suspicious installations to NSCDC offices.

He directed all 44 divisional officers in Kano State to engage community leaders, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders to promote the importance of safeguarding telecommunications infrastructure. The campaign aims to protect critical national assets that support various services, including communication and emergency response.

Agalama warned that individuals found vandalizing telecommunication facilities would face arrest and prosecution. The campaign will be coordinated by DCC Victor Bala Muhd.
