NSCDC Launches School Safety Campaign in Abia State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command, has initiated a statewide school safety and security sensitisation campaign targeting schoolchildren, management officials, and teaching staff. The campaign, named “School Safety Sensitisation and Reach-Out Programme,” aims to educate participants on security threats, safety tips, and the dangers of illicit drug use.

State Commandant Chukwuemeka Odimba emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of security consciousness among children and staff, asserting that a secure educational environment is crucial for societal safety. This initiative follows a security assessment tour of various educational institutions in the state and represents the second phase of a comprehensive plan to enhance security in schools.

The NSCDC is collaborating with the Civil Defence Officers’ Wives Association (CDOWA), led by Lady Ijeoma Odimba, to implement the programme effectively. The campaign has included workshops at schools, where students received security education and donations of study materials and sanitary products.
