NSSEC Sets One-Year Deadline for Nigerian States to Meet New Senior Secondary School Standards

The NSSEC has given Nigerian states a one-year ultimatum to implement new senior secondary school benchmarks, including teacher qualifications, student-teacher ratios, and infrastructure standards. Dr.

Iyela Ajayi highlighted the commission's efforts to improve the quality of secondary education nationwide, emphasizing the importance of uniform standards. Despite financial constraints, NSSEC plans to upgrade 50 schools with new facilities and engage telecom companies to provide subsidized broadband access.

The commission also aims to introduce compulsory computer literacy and expand programs in robotics, AI, and data science.
