UBEC Launches Digital Education Fund Platform and Roadmap

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has digitized the management of its intervention funds and commenced work on a new 10-year strategic roadmap for basic education in Nigeria. Executive Secretary Dr. Aisha Garba announced these reforms on Monday in Abuja at a consultative meeting regarding the Basic Education Action Plan Management System (BEAPMS) and the 10-year UBE Roadmap for 2026–2035.

The new digital workflow will replace the manual process for accessing UBEC funds, allowing states to develop, submit, review, and obtain approval for their action plans through an integrated online platform. Garba stated that this innovation enhances efficiency, transparency, and accountability.

The new roadmap will replace the current 2021–2030 plan, focusing on policy prioritization and resource alignment. Garba urged State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs) to ensure timely data submission and collaboration with UBEC.

The meeting also aimed to establish system requirements and coordination mechanisms for effective implementation. Shehu Adaramaja and Nura Ibrahim emphasized the need for stronger coordination and effective physical planning.
