Nwobodo Denies Wife's Role in Enugu Property Demolition

Jim Nwobodo, the former governor of Anambra State, publicly denied claims regarding his wife, Pat Nwobodo's involvement in the demolition of properties belonging to Pastor Basil Ogbuanu in Enugu. In a statement on Tuesday, Nwobodo clarified that the allegations arose from a dispute concerning unauthorized building activities that breached estate regulations.

The situation escalated on January 16, 2026, when Pat Nwobodo visited the estate for a routine inspection and was allegedly prevented from leaving by a team that locked the estate gate. This led to a confrontation with police, who intervened after reports of physical assault.

Pastor Ogbuanu was later apprehended at Akanu Ibiam International Airport while attempting to travel to Lagos and was subsequently arraigned in court on charges related to illegal construction. Nwobodo expressed disappointment over the accusations against his wife, asserting that she acted in good faith and had even offered to refund the pastor, which he declined.

He emphasized that investigations revealed Ogbuanu ignored several government directives to halt unauthorized activities.
