Odumeje Accuses FG of Political Motives in Bridge Repairs

Chukwuemeka Odumeje, a controversial Nigerian pastor, has publicly criticized the Federal Government regarding its decision to repair the Onitsha Head Bridge. He contends that the timing of this initiative is politically motivated, coinciding with the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.

During a sermon, he expressed skepticism about the financial allocations for the project, suggesting that the figures would astonish Nigerians. Odumeje further directed his criticism towards influential figures in the South-East, accusing them of failing to deliver substantial results for the region.

He highlighted the absence of any foreign embassy in the South-East, which he described as an embarrassing situation that forces residents to travel long distances to Abuja or Lagos for visa applications. Odumeje argued that true national unity necessitates an equitable distribution of federal institutions, including diplomatic missions, across all major regions of Nigeria, emphasizing the disconnect between political promises and the realities faced by ordinary citizens.
