Ojudu Critiques FG Over Akure-Ado Ekiti Road Project

Former National Assembly member Babafemi Ojudu has raised concerns regarding the Federal Government's handling of the Akure-Ado Ekiti road project, which was initially awarded as a dual carriageway but has been delivered as a refurbished single carriageway. Ojudu expressed his disappointment in a Facebook post, stating that the original contract, valued at approximately N30 billion, was awarded to Dantata & Sawoe in November 2019 but was later canceled.

On March 29, 2023, the Federal Executive Council re-awarded the project as a 50-kilometre dualisation project for about N95.98 billion. The Akure-Ondo State boundary section was awarded to Samchase Nigeria Limited and Horizon Construction Company Limited for N46,684,481,745.44, while the section towards Ado-Ekiti was awarded to Kopek Construction Limited for N49,295,088,593.98.

The project was flagged off in May 2023. Ojudu demanded clarity from Minister of Works David Umahi, emphasizing the road's significance to the economic and social life of Ondo and Ekiti states.
