Sokoto Police Debunks Viral Photo Misleading Claims

The Sokoto Police Command issued a statement addressing claims circulating on social media regarding a viral photo of a superintendent police officer allegedly escorting a Hisbah commander. The police described these claims as false and misleading.

The image in question was taken on November 22, 2024, during the inauguration of the Sokoto State Hisbah Board at its secretariat. Ahmad Rufa, who signed the police statement, clarified that the individual in the Hisbah uniform is not affiliated with the Hisbah command.

Instead, the superintendent police seen in the photo was serving as an aide-de-camp to Governor Ahmadu Aliyu at the time, performing statutory duties to provide close protection. The police urged the public to disregard the misleading claims and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order in a professional and neutral manner.
