Ogun State Launches Statewide Industrial Safety Audit Program

The Ogun State government has unveiled a plan to launch a comprehensive statewide industrial safety audit program designed to improve safety standards, identify emerging risks, and enhance operational resilience across industries. This announcement was made on Tuesday in Abeokuta by Dr.

Ola Oresanya, the State Commissioner for Environment. The program aims to transform the safety commission and improve regulatory oversight while encouraging industries to adopt global best practices in occupational safety.

The audit program is not intended to punish industries but to support continuous improvement and accountability. The initiative will commence between 2026 and 2028 as part of a strategic safety transformation agenda.

Mr. Temitop Amoo, chairman of the Institute of Safety Professionals Nigeria, emphasized that safety is crucial for business survival.

Mr. Vincent Okoronkwo, a safety expert, noted the importance of sustained safety training to reduce workplace accidents across various sectors.
