Ogun PDP Deputy Gov Candidate Calls for Muslim Women's Unity

Lateefah Sowunmi-Kolapo, the Iya Sunnah of Egbaland and the 2027 deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, called for unity among Muslim women to combat social vices and promote community development. Speaking at the inaugural summit of the Egba Muslim Women Forum in Abeokuta, she emphasized that mothers are the foundation of society and must raise children with strong moral values to resist issues like drug abuse and cybercrime.

The summit, themed “Mothers, Unity and Community Service: Nurturing Strong Families, Building Vibrant Communities,” was attended by Ogun State Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele and various community leaders. Sowunmi-Kolapo described the forum's inauguration as the start of a movement aimed at strengthening families and empowering women.

She expressed concern over the erosion of family values due to economic hardship and social media influences, urging Muslim women to engage in community development and support ethical leadership.
