Olaopa Urges NIPR to Enhance Communication Strategies

On Tuesday, during a meeting in Abuja, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), called on members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to prioritize the development of communication strategies to address the country's challenges.

He acknowledged the vital role of NIPR members in enhancing corporate governance and stressed that effective communication is essential for national change. Olaopa lamented the cultural issues that have arisen since Nigeria's oil boom in the 1970s, which have contributed to a culture of entitlement.

He highlighted the need for a strategic approach to communication that fosters public trust and addresses the misinformation prevalent in social media. Dr.

Toni Ojobo, a former Director of Public Affairs at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), also urged public relations experts to recalibrate their strategies to earn citizens' trust, emphasizing the importance of integrating communication in the public sector to tackle governance challenges.
