Onanuga Calls for Collective Security Responsibility in Nigeria

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, called on Nigerians to take collective responsibility for the country's security during the 8th edition of the Blueprint Newspapers Public Lecture, Impact Series and Awards Ceremony held on Tuesday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja. The event, themed “Security Challenges and the Integrity of Nigeria’s 2027 Elections,” gathered government officials, political leaders, and stakeholders to discuss the intersection of security and electoral integrity.

Onanuga emphasized that security is a shared responsibility that involves the government, security agencies, and ordinary citizens. He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and actively assist security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, advocating the principle of “if you see something, say something.” His remarks were part of broader discussions on addressing security challenges that could impact the credibility and peaceful conduct of the upcoming 2027 general elections, highlighting the need for stronger coordination among various sectors in protecting Nigeria’s democratic process.
