Ondo State Partners with African Cleanup Initiative

The Ondo State Government has partnered with the African Cleanup Initiative (ACI) to promote environmental sustainability. During a courtesy visit, Mr.

Favour Adefemi, leading the state delegation, sought collaboration with the ministry to strengthen public awareness and encourage citizen participation in environmental protection programs. ACI, a non-governmental organization focused on proper waste management and climate change awareness, has been operational nationwide for several years, with its Ondo State chapter established recently.

The initiative aims to improve environmental sanitation and sustainability through various activities, including environmental education campaigns in schools and community cleanup exercises across the state's eighteen local government areas. Mr.

Adefemi noted a decline in public participation in monthly environmental sanitation exercises and highlighted poor waste management practices as significant challenges. Hon.

Idowu Ajanaku commended ACI's commitment to environmental sustainability, aligning with the development agenda of Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. The ministry expressed readiness to support ACI's advocacy programs to influence positive behavior change regarding environmental practices.
