Physically Challenged Beggar Killed in Lagos-Ibadan Crash

A tragic multiple-vehicle crash occurred on the outbound section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in the death of a physically challenged beggar who was in a wheelchair. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Head of Media for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, reported that the incident took place in the early hours of Saturday.

The crash involved a container-laden Mack truck with registration number AGL 374 XX, a loaded DAF truck with registration number AKM 476 XB, and a white Toyota bus with registration number AKD 137 YA. Eyewitness accounts indicated that the Mack truck experienced brake failure while approaching a turning point, subsequently colliding with vehicles making the turn and fatally striking the beggar.

Akinbiyi stated that traffic on the outbound Lagos route was significantly affected and that TRACE Operatives, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the police were present to manage the situation. Efforts to clear the accident scene and restore traffic flow were ongoing at the time of the report.
