Beggar Killed in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

A tragic multi-vehicle crash occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in the death of a physically challenged beggar. The incident took place at Car Park C in the early hours of Saturday.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Head of Media for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, reported that the crash involved a container-laden Mack truck with registration number AGL 374 XX, a loaded DAF truck with registration number AKM 476 XB, and a white Toyota bus with registration number AKD 137 YA. Eyewitnesses indicated that the Mack truck experienced brake failure while approaching a turning point, leading it to collide with vehicles making a turn and fatally striking the beggar, who was in a wheelchair.

Traffic on the outbound Lagos route was significantly affected, and efforts to clear the accident scene and restore traffic flow were ongoing. Additionally, multiple crashes occurred on the Kara Bridge section of the expressway the previous day, resulting in one fatality and injuries to two others.
