Truck Hits Osun APC Campaign, One Dead, Seven Injured

A tragic incident occurred in Osun when a truck collided with a campaign procession organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, resulting in the death of one individual, identified as Abdulrasaq Ahm, and injuries to seven others. The accident took place as participants were mobilizing for the governorship election scheduled for August 15.

Remi Omowaiy, a member of the Bola Oyebamiji campaign committee, confirmed the incident, stating that the injured victims are receiving treatment at a private hospital in Ofatedo. Eyewitnesses reported that the truck driver ignored traffic directives issued by the Federal Road Safety Corps, which had been deployed to manage traffic during the rally.

The truck reportedly drove onto the lane designated for pedestrians, ramming into the crowd. APC governorship candidate Benjamin Adereti called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, emphasizing the need to understand whether the truck driver acted deliberately.

Ademola Adeleke, in response, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
