Political Violence in Osun: Accord Member Killed

In Osun State, political tensions escalated with the killing of Ajayi Aderogba, a member of the Accord Party, who was shot dead on Tuesday evening. His death occurred just two months before the August 15 governorship election, where incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party is seeking re-election against Bola Oyebamiji of the APC, Najeem Salam of the African Democratic Congress, and Adewal Adebayo of the People's Movement.

The circumstances surrounding Aderogba's murder remain unclear, and the Osun State Police Command has not issued an official statement. Olajengbesi Pelumi, spokesperson for the APC campaign council, accused Oluwol Ok of sponsoring the attack, while Ok denied any connection to the incident.

In a separate incident, Abdulrasaq Ahm was killed when a truck rammed into an APC campaign rally in Ok Gada, resulting in injuries to seven others. The Federal Road Safety Corps is investigating the accident, which occurred during a campaign event.
