IED Explosion in Lagos Injures One, Police Assure Safety

On Monday, an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in a commercial area of Lagos, specifically at the Shoe Material Market in Mushin, injuring one person who was subsequently hospitalized and reported to be in stable condition. Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Fatai Tijani, addressed journalists at the scene, assuring residents that the area remains safe.

The explosion, which caused brief panic, was triggered by a device placed beneath the passenger side of a vehicle, detonating when the engine started. Following the incident, the police deployed an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to cordon off the area and conduct a thorough search.

Preliminary findings indicated that the device was an improvised explosive device. Tijani urged the public, particularly traders in the commercial area, to remain calm and resume normal activities, emphasizing that no additional explosives were discovered.

The police command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
