Gunmen Attack Police Team in Plateau, One Killed

On Wednesday at 5:30 PM, gunmen attacked a police team in Changal Village, Gindiri District, Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State, leading to the death of one individual. The Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, Alabo Alfr, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Thursday.

The attack was part of ongoing efforts by the police to curb crime in the area, particularly targeting a notorious suspect, Ibrahim Abdullahi, who is described as a terrorist in the Gindiri community. During the confrontation, the police engaged in a gun duel with the attackers, resulting in the neutralization of one suspect who sustained a fractured leg while attempting to escape.

This suspect was taken to the hospital for medical attention. The police recovered an AK-47 rifle, loaded with sixteen rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and a Redmi phone belonging to a victim.

The case has been transferred to the Violent Crime Response Unit for further investigation, and the suspect will be charged in court upon conclusion of the investigation. Commissioner of Police Bassei Ewah commended the operation for its bravery and professionalism.
